Does Life Ever STOP Getting In The Way? No? Okay. Cool.

I don't know about you, but sometimes I don't feel like doing squat.  Am I alone here?  No?  I didn't think so.  There hasn't been too much going on around here as of late because life got in the way of the virtual world and trampled any possibility of blogging.  So after life got in the way, I didn't do anything.  And I haven't done anything whatsoever since the 29th of June.

I can say, however, I don't know too many people that actually ACT on not doing anything as frequently as I do.  I confess it.  Many times a week, I sit on my butt, play Facebook games or Angry Birds on my new phone.  Yes, I finally came out of the stone ages going from this:

A slide cell phone without Android to this:

A T-Mobile Sidekick 4G WITH Android.  I get my touch screen with fun apps (Angry Birds) AND I get to keep my keyboard.  AND we're saving $30 a month on our cell bill.  But I digress.

Sometimes I just sit around and watch movies all day when I'm not feeding children or breaking up childhood arguments.  But, that's the blessing of summer and having an enclosed courtyard for the children to play in.  "Go outside" is my favorite phrase during this time of year.  I've had plenty of time to sit around and do nothing while the kiddos bake in the sun with smiles on their faces.

Speaking of summer and children playing outside, Deebo had no idea what Kick The Can was!  I believe I about had a heart attack when her mother confirmed that they had not played it ever.  *astonished*  Deebo gave me this expression when I asked her about Ghosts In The Graveyard

Really Sassy Mama?  I know she said "mm-hmm" when I asked her, but this face isn't exactly too convincing.  Granted, Deebo and Tsunami definitely get plenty of outdoor activities, so I'm not worried about them being corrupted by technology like I have become.  But... wow.  What has happened to awesome games from our youth?  I am too scared to ask if she knows how to play Red Rover.

In Sassy Mama's defense, my kids didn't know how to play any of them either.

*hangs head in shame*

So, it's been my goal to get the kids outside doing some more traditional activities this summer.  As you can see above, the sandbox is being very well used at our house right now.  And you can see I need to pull some weeds.  Goathead weeds nonetheless.

*head meet desk*

We started on Li'L Sausage's third birthday with a mega water balloon fight in our courtyard.

Tsunami and my little Diva are bestie's.  You can see it all over their little faces.  And the fact that they made pets out of their pink water balloons has me somewhat concerned.  I don't know how I would feel to see a happy purple smiley face flying at my head knowing it's going to explode in my face.  It's somewhat disturbing when you think about.  These girls have something ticking in their brains.  They're too sweet and innocent looking for it to be believable.

And regardless of how much dirt ended up inside the pools, the children had a blast getting soaked in mud.

I think the adults have forgotten what the word "cheating" really means.

Because it was thoroughly abused.

On Father's Day we had some good ol' traditional kite flying in the park.  We have a GREAT park full of hills and few trees just perfect for it!

So we gathered the kids and the kites to enjoy the walk around the corner to our little park.  I rather enjoyed teasing Bad Boy about carrying around a pink kite.  Nothing like teasing a man about his masculinity when he has infinite amounts of self-esteem.  He takes it rather well.

Or so he says!

After arriving safely in green open spaces the kids cut loose... And complained about climbing a hill.

*rolls eyes*

But that was remedied quite quickly when our old Bad Boy taught the stinkers how to fly kites.  You know.  Because there's only ONE proper way to do it of course!

Diva didn't surprise us at all when she took to kite flying like a fish takes to water and fly her kite for a good thirty minutes straight.

After our Father's Day visit to the park, some time went by and we then proceeded to take off to New York for my baby sister's wedding.  I spent an entire day going from extreme stress to tears of joy to laughter all to see my baby sister marry her high school sweetheart.

I had the best time in New York and will most definitely share the highlights in my next post.  I MUST go back someday (without the children).  It would be nice to see Manhattan without having to visit a McDonald's.

So, am I sad that life got in the way of my virtual life and my blog that I had JUST restarted (again)?  No.  Sorry virtual world.  The physical world is pretty darn awesome!
